gTLD (Generic Top-Level Domain)
A generic top-level domain (gTLD) is a type of domain extension that uses generic or general terms as part of the domain. These domain extensions are not restricted to specific countries or regions. They are administered by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and can be registered by individuals, organizations or companies worldwide. Examples of gTLDs are ".com", ".org", ".net", ".info" and ".biz".

Registry Agreement
Operating a gTLD registry requires daily backups of the registration data for the domains it manages and storing them with a trusted escrow agent.
Registry Data Escrow (RyDE) ensures that a secure copy of your stored gTLD registration data is kept with an independent third party. For more information, see Specification 2 "Data Escrow Requirements" in the ICANN Registry Accreditation Agreement (ICANN Registry Agreement).

A country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) is a domain extension that is assigned to a specific country or territorial unit. These domain extensions usually use the ISO-3166 country codes as part of their structure. Examples of ccTLDs are ".de" for Germany, ".uk" for the United Kingdom and ".fr" for France. These domain extensions are administered by the respective countries or territories and may have specific restrictions on registration set by the national authorities.
